Plagiarism Policy

Justitia Nova: Indonesian Journal of Modern Law is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity and ethical publishing. The journal has zero tolerance for plagiarism and other forms of academic misconduct. All submitted manuscripts are expected to be original works that have not been previously published or simultaneously submitted to another journal.

Originality Requirement

Authors are responsible for ensuring that their manuscripts:

• Present original research and scholarly contributions.

• Properly acknowledge and cite the work of other authors.

• Accurately quote or paraphrase previously published materials.

• Comply with internationally accepted standards of academic integrity.

• Do not contain fabricated, falsified, or manipulated data.

Similarity Screening

All submitted manuscripts undergo similarity screening before entering the peer review process using recognized plagiarism detection software.

The similarity assessment is conducted to identify potential issues related to:

• Plagiarism.

• Self-plagiarism.

• Duplicate publication.

• Redundant publication.

• Improper citation practices.

• Excessive textual overlap.

Editorial decisions are based on the nature, source, and context of the similarity rather than on a fixed similarity percentage.

Forms of Plagiarism

The journal considers the following practices to constitute plagiarism or publication misconduct:

• Copying text without proper attribution.

• Presenting another person's ideas, data, or findings as one's own.

• Submitting previously published work without appropriate disclosure.

• Reusing substantial portions of one's own published work without proper citation (self-plagiarism).

• Translating previously published material without acknowledgement.

• Manipulating citations to misrepresent originality.

Editorial Actions

When plagiarism or excessive textual overlap is identified, the Editorial Office may take one or more of the following actions:

• Request clarification or revision from the authors.

• Require correction of citation or attribution.

• Reject the manuscript prior to peer review.

• Reject the manuscript after peer review if ethical concerns remain unresolved.

• Retract a published article when serious plagiarism is confirmed after publication.

• Notify the authors' affiliated institutions when appropriate in cases of serious publication misconduct.

Authors' Responsibilities

Authors are expected to:

• Submit only original manuscripts.

• Properly cite all sources used in the preparation of the manuscript.

• Obtain permission where required for copyrighted materials.

• Disclose any previous dissemination of substantially similar work.

• Cooperate with the Editorial Office if concerns regarding originality arise.

Editorial Responsibility

Editors reserve the right to evaluate all allegations of plagiarism fairly, objectively, and confidentially. Each case will be assessed individually in accordance with the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and internationally accepted standards of research integrity.
