Reviewer Guidelines

 

Al-Tijarah: Journal of Islamic Economics, Finance and Business sincerely appreciates the valuable contributions of reviewers in maintaining the quality, credibility, and integrity of scholarly publishing. Reviewers play a vital role in ensuring that only high-quality, original, and scientifically sound manuscripts are published.

The journal applies a double-blind peer review system in which the identities of both authors and reviewers remain confidential throughout the review process.


Responsibilities of Reviewers

Reviewers are expected to:

  • evaluate manuscripts objectively, fairly, and professionally;

  • provide constructive comments that help authors improve their work;

  • maintain the confidentiality of all manuscript information;

  • identify ethical concerns, including plagiarism, duplicate publication, or research misconduct;

  • declare any potential conflicts of interest before accepting a review invitation;

  • complete the review within the requested timeframe.


Evaluation Criteria

Reviewers are requested to assess manuscripts based on the following criteria:

1. Originality and Novelty

  • Does the manuscript present original ideas or findings?

  • Does it contribute new knowledge to the field of Islamic economics, finance, and business?

2. Relevance to the Journal

  • Is the manuscript aligned with the journal's aims and scope?

3. Scientific Quality

  • Are the research objectives clearly stated?

  • Is the methodology appropriate and rigorous?

  • Are the analyses valid and well-supported?

4. Literature Review

  • Does the manuscript adequately engage with recent and relevant scholarly literature?

  • Are references appropriate and properly cited?

5. Results and Discussion

  • Are the findings clearly presented?

  • Does the discussion provide meaningful interpretation and scholarly contribution?

6. Conclusion

  • Does the conclusion answer the research objectives?

  • Are practical or theoretical implications clearly identified?

7. Language and Presentation

  • Is the manuscript written in clear academic English?

  • Are tables, figures, and references presented appropriately?


Ethical Responsibilities

Reviewers should:

  • treat all manuscripts as confidential documents;

  • not use unpublished information for personal advantage;

  • avoid discriminatory or biased comments;

  • notify the editor if ethical concerns are identified;

  • decline the review if there is a conflict of interest.

The journal follows the ethical recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).


Recommendation Categories

After completing the evaluation, reviewers are asked to recommend one of the following decisions:

  • Accept

  • Minor Revision

  • Major Revision

  • Reject

The final publication decision is made by the Editor-in-Chief based on reviewers' recommendations and editorial judgment.


Review Timeline

Reviewers are encouraged to complete their evaluations within 21 days after accepting the review invitation. If additional time is required, reviewers should notify the Editorial Office as soon as possible.


Recognition for Reviewers

The journal highly values the contribution of reviewers and provides:

  • official reviewer acknowledgment;

  • reviewer certificate upon request;

  • annual publication of the Reviewer Acknowledgement list;

  • opportunities to join the Editorial Board based on consistent and high-quality reviewing performance.
