Corrections, Retractions & Appeals Policy

Al-Tijarah: Journal of Islamic Economics, Finance and Business is committed to maintaining the integrity, accuracy, and reliability of the scholarly record. The journal follows the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) in handling corrections, retractions, editorial expressions of concern, and appeals.

Corrections

If a published article contains minor errors that do not affect the validity, interpretation, or conclusions of the research, the Editorial Office may publish a correction (Erratum or Corrigendum).

Corrections may include:

  • Typographical or formatting errors.

  • Errors in author names or affiliations.

  • Incorrect funding information.

  • Minor inaccuracies in figures, tables, or references.

  • Other errors that do not compromise the scientific validity of the article.

All corrections will be linked to the original article to ensure transparency and maintain the integrity of the scholarly record.

Retractions

A published article may be retracted when there is clear evidence that the findings or publication process are seriously compromised.

Retraction may occur in cases including, but not limited to:

  • Fabrication or falsification of research data.

  • Plagiarism.

  • Duplicate or redundant publication.

  • Serious methodological errors that invalidate the findings.

  • Unethical research practices.

  • Copyright infringement.

  • Undisclosed conflicts of interest that significantly affect the integrity of the publication.

Retraction decisions are made by the Editor-in-Chief after consultation with the Editorial Board and, where appropriate, external experts, following COPE guidance.

Retracted articles will remain accessible to preserve the scholarly record but will be clearly identified as Retracted.

Expressions of Concern

If credible concerns arise regarding a published article but sufficient evidence is not yet available to support a correction or retraction, the Editorial Office may publish an Expression of Concern while an investigation is ongoing.

Once the investigation is completed, the notice may be replaced by a correction, retraction, or a statement confirming the validity of the article.

Appeals

Authors who disagree with an editorial decision, including rejection, correction, or retraction, may submit a written appeal to the Editorial Office.

Appeals should include:

  • A clear explanation of the grounds for appeal.

  • Supporting evidence or documentation.

  • Responses to the issues identified by the editors or reviewers.

The appeal will be reviewed independently by the Editor-in-Chief and, where appropriate, members of the Editorial Board who were not directly involved in the original decision.

The decision following the appeal is considered final.

Complaints

Complaints regarding editorial procedures, publication ethics, peer review, or conflicts of interest should be submitted in writing to the Editorial Office.

Each complaint will be handled confidentially, impartially, and in accordance with the journal's ethical standards and COPE recommendations.

Editorial Responsibility

The Editorial Team is committed to:

  • preserving the integrity of the scholarly record;

  • correcting the literature whenever necessary;

  • ensuring fairness and transparency in editorial decisions;

  • resolving disputes through an objective and ethical process;

  • following internationally recognized publication ethics and best practices.
