Complaints and Appeals Policy

Al-Tijarah: Journal of Islamic Economics, Finance and Business is committed to maintaining a fair, transparent, and accountable editorial process. The journal welcomes complaints and appeals from authors, reviewers, readers, and other stakeholders regarding editorial decisions, publication ethics, and journal management.

All complaints and appeals are handled objectively, confidentially, and in accordance with the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Appeals Against Editorial Decisions

Authors who believe that an editorial decision was based on a misunderstanding, procedural error, or factual inaccuracy may submit a formal appeal.

Appeals may relate to:

  • rejection of a manuscript;

  • requests for major revisions;

  • editorial decisions following peer review;

  • ethical decisions affecting manuscript processing.

An appeal should include:

  • the manuscript title and identification number (if applicable);

  • a clear explanation of the reasons for the appeal;

  • supporting evidence or documentation;

  • a point-by-point response to the issues raised by the editors or reviewers, where relevant.

Appeals should be submitted within 30 days of receiving the editorial decision.

The Editor-in-Chief, together with members of the Editorial Board who were not directly involved in the original decision, will review the appeal independently. The outcome of the appeal will be communicated to the author after careful consideration. The final editorial decision following the appeal is considered binding.

The journal accepts complaints concerning matters such as:

  • editorial procedures;

  • peer-review management;

  • publication ethics;

  • conflicts of interest;

  • delays in editorial processing;

  • inappropriate editorial or reviewer conduct;

  • allegations of research misconduct.

Every complaint will be acknowledged promptly and investigated fairly, impartially, and confidentially. The Editorial Office may consult members of the Editorial Board or external experts where appropriate.
