e-ISSN 3109-3469
Justitia Nova: Indonesian Journal of Modern Law is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all possible measures against publication malpractice. This publication ethics statement is based on the principles and best practices established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), as well as internationally recognized standards for scholarly publishing.
All parties involved in the publication process, including authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher, are expected to adhere to these ethical principles.
1. Duties of Authors
Originality and Plagiarism
Authors must ensure that their manuscripts are original works and have not been published previously or submitted simultaneously to another journal. Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be provided.
Plagiarism in all its forms, including self-plagiarism, duplicate publication, and unattributed use of others’ work, constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable.
Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Submission
Authors should not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently. Simultaneous submission is considered unethical and may result in rejection.
Data Integrity and Accuracy
Authors are responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the data, analysis, and findings presented in their manuscripts. Fabrication, falsification, or manipulation of research data is strictly prohibited.
Acknowledgment of Sources
Authors must appropriately cite publications, documents, statutes, case law, and scholarly works that have influenced their research.
Authorship
Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made significant contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the study. All co-authors must approve the final version of the manuscript before submission.
Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest
Authors must disclose any financial, institutional, professional, or personal relationships that could influence the interpretation of their research.
Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Authors may use AI-assisted tools for language editing and technical support. However, AI tools cannot be listed as authors. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of the submitted work and must disclose substantial use of AI tools in the manuscript.
2. Duties of Editors
Publication Decisions
Editors are responsible for deciding which submitted manuscripts should be published based on scholarly merit, originality, relevance to the journal’s scope, and reviewers’ recommendations.
Fair Play
Editors evaluate manuscripts solely on their intellectual content without discrimination based on race, gender, nationality, religion, political beliefs, institutional affiliation, or personal characteristics of the authors.
Confidentiality
Editors must maintain the confidentiality of all submitted manuscripts and must not disclose information about submissions to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, editorial advisors, and the publisher as appropriate.
Conflict of Interest
Editors shall not use unpublished information disclosed in a submitted manuscript for their own research without the author’s explicit written consent.
3. Duties of Reviewers
Contribution to Editorial Decisions
Peer reviewers assist editors in making editorial decisions and help authors improve the quality of their manuscripts.
Confidentiality
Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents and must not be shared or discussed with others without authorization from the editor.
Objectivity
Reviews should be conducted objectively and professionally. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate.
Acknowledgment of Sources
Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors and notify editors of substantial similarities between the manuscript under review and other published works.
Conflict of Interest
Reviewers must decline invitations to review manuscripts when conflicts of interest exist due to competitive, collaborative, institutional, or personal relationships.
4. Peer Review Policy
Justitia Nova employs a Double-Blind Peer Review process. The identities of both authors and reviewers are concealed throughout the review process to ensure impartial evaluation.
