Vol 1, No 1 (2024): December

Issue Description

Munakahat: Journal of Islamic Family Law is the inaugural scholarly journal published by the Department of Family Law, Faculty of Sharia and Law, Institut Miftahul Huda Al Azhar Kota Banjar, West Java, Indonesia. Volume 1, Number 1, released in December 2024, marks the beginning of an academic platform dedicated to delivering in-depth studies on Islamic family law with a contemporary and multidisciplinary approach.

This first edition features contributions from authors representing at least six countries across three major continents: Asia, Europe, and Africa. This cross-cultural and international collaboration enriches the journal with global perspectives while highlighting the dynamics and challenges faced by Islamic family law in diverse social, cultural, and technological contexts.

The journal covers a wide range of topics, including analyses of maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah in sexual violence law, religious moderation in the digital era, innovative approaches to zakat distribution in Nigeria, and ethical reflections on local cultural integration such as the Sant Dionís celebration in Spain. Additionally, discussions on the impact of digital technology on family law and protection against digital fraud emphasize the journal’s relevance in today’s modern world.

Munakahat serves as an essential forum for academics, legal practitioners, religious leaders, and policymakers seeking to understand and develop Islamic family law grounded in principles of justice, welfare, and contextual adaptation. By combining theory and practice, this journal has the potential to become a leading reference for building harmonious and ethical families in an increasingly pluralistic and dynamic world.
